Israeli industrial designer Hilla Shamia creates these breathtaking stools by joining aluminum and wood logs. Molten aluminum is poured over the logs, inside molds, causing the top layer of the wood to burn and the liquid metal to float into and fill the natural cracks and creases in the wood surface. Each one-of-a-kind piece showcases the structure and characteristics of the wood in a stunning way — the stark contrast between the two materials compliment and highlight each others individual beauty!
