SemiDomesticated

Isn’t it funny, how when you’re focused on a specific topic, an idea or even a certain color, it seems to pop up everywhere? Today on our daily blog/social media gander, these great bins revealed themselves to us via the lovely Walrus Shop in Vancouver.

A brilliant example of metamorphosis and transformation, the Bow Bins by German artist Cordula Kehrer made from broken plastic bins salvaged by weaving them together with wicker, rattan and weed. The bins above are all one of a kind, but lucky for us, a new edition of the Bow Bins (below), were commissioned by fair trade NGO Preda in collaboration with New York based thoughtful “producer of everyday objects” AREAWARE.  This whimsical wastebasket is now made by the indigenous Aeta people of the Philippines using traditional basket weaving techniques. All material used comes from local and sustainable resources in the Philippines.
